I've been working on some local seascapes for Gallery 297 in Bristol, RI. I snapped photos of these sailboats out in Bristol Harbor & Mt Hope Bay last summer when we were out on our boat. I was charmed by the colorful spinnaker sails.
The sky in the second piece was done with Caran d'Arche Supracolor pencils with water to create washes. Then I used Prismacolor pencils on top. I was worried that it was too distracting from the foreground but it works ok because the sails are very vibrant. Thank you for your comments!
Cindy, I am fond of the Rocky Mts too. We went skiing in Aspen in March and I didn't want to leave. Although, I would miss the water if I didn't live near it. Come visit!

Kendra, these are really nice. I especially like the sky in the second piece. It adds an extra texture, adding interest. Hope to see more.

Lovely boats! Rich, vibrant color.
I envy your access to the water.....I'm not complaining about the Rocky Mountains, just would love to have more water.
