Lots of Waves at the Beaches
I've been walking my dog at Easton's & Second Beaches (his favorite places) and have become inspired by the waves and the high surf on blustery days. I started to notice that on cloudy days or days when the sun is barely peering out of the clouds, the most beautiful blues, grays and purples are created on the ocean and the waves as well as the sky. I've taken dozens of pictures for inspiration and I look at them every day. I am planning to work on a series of colored pencil pieces of bits of the surf or maybe the whole scene or maybe just a small part of the ocean and large part of the sky. Its making me realize how beautiful the ocean and the beach can be on gray wintery days and this is what I hope to portray in my drawings.

Great idea (and adorable dog!) I especially love the second photo because of the movement of the waves and the hazy sky. I am looking forward to seeing what you create!
Yes, Kendra, what a great idea. I love those photos of the surf - they are stunning. What's your dog's name? Sooooo cute!
I am chomping at the bit to begin this project. However, holiday preparations are keeping me preoccupied right now. My dog's name is Bandit and, Debbi, he shares a fondness of dead birds with you. Only he likes to pull them apart and eat them!
Kendra, images 2 and three have my vote. I love the way your adorable dog is positioned in image 3. These pics are terrific references. I can't wait to see what you create.
what a brave little soul that Yorkie is!
These are great photos. It's so wonderful to be near the beach.
oh yes, put the doggie in ;)
I have started the piece but no pictures yet. I am using the second picture for reference. All the white foam in the waves and the swirls in the water are very challenging. I can only manage about 2 hours at a time for my concentration level. I love living near the beach, it changes every day. I won't include the dog but might do a portrait of him on the beach sometime.
