I think its done now! I put away the photo I worked from and added more color and value where it was needed. I may work another drawing from this composition, it has really been fun and a learning experience how to draw the different textured rocks. This piece is going to the Art League of Rhode Island "End of Winter" exhibit at Arnold Art Gallery in Newport.

First of all the texture of the board really lends itself to the subject matter. The pink shell to the left is the star of the show and the others are gorgeous supporting characters. This is beautiful, Kendra! I love how the pink shell is off-centered and the way the other shells are lined up to lead your eye all around the painting. Yet we as viewers are not trailed off the canvas. Well done! Told you I am a big fan!
Love this piece! I agree with Chantell - the pink shell to the left is the star. It invites us into the picture. I also like the subtle colors of the background rocks, especially the texture of the rock just behind "the star'. Nice job.
I like the composition as well. Thanks for the comments!
I sold this piece yesterday, 5/9/09, to another artist who admires my work. That is one of the biggest compliments ever!
