Colored Pencil: one of my cherry series

This is my first post to this blog. I'm learning as I go. I've uploaded this image called "Cherries on China". It won second prize at a recent gallery exhibit at Gallery 297 in Bristol, RI, titled "Seeing Red".

"Cherries on China" done on rag illustration board with colored pencil. I used solvent to dissolve the colored pencil on the dark areas of the plate, the background and on the cherries themselves. While the solvent is still wet, I work into the areas with colored pencil which melts into the area like paint. I really enjoy this new technique. I think my recent oil painting classes have attributed to this style of colored pencil!
